Touch-Up

Why Does SMP Fade?

Once you have received an SMP procedure, it’s natural for it to fade as time goes on. Several factors influence fading, including the quality of work (of whoever completed the initial procedure), your skin type and the oil or acid buildup under your skin. The longevity of your initial work also depends on sun exposure, including both how often and the duration you expose your scalp to the sun.

It’s Time For A Touch-Up

The average lifespan of SMP is 4-8 years. However, there isn’t a definitive timeline in terms of when or how long it will take for micropigmentation to fade. Once the fading process begins, there is an irregularity factor that may make your SMP look even more authentic than it did after the initial treatment. If you’ve determined it’s time for a touch-up, a consultation with our team is vital to deciding how to go about your procedure. If you have photos taken after your initial treatment, our team will review them to determine areas where fading has begun and regions that are entirely faded. These photos will also help our team ensure we use ink that matches your original procedure.
